TEMPORARY RANGE CLOSURE

UPDATE 10/07/14!
There have been delays in the permitting process for the road and range repairs. We are working with the County and the landowner to expedite the process. Updates will be posted here as soon as they are available.

FOR SAFETY REASONS, NO SHOOTING IS PERMITTED UNTIL ALL REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED!
As you are probably aware, the September 8th storm hit the Thousand Palms area extremely hard. The intersection below the range at Bob Hope Drive and Varner Road was under 5 feet of water. The mud at the intersection and along Varner Road was several feet deep all the way to Ramon Road.

The PSGC Range has been severely damaged. The road leading to the range gate was completely washed away in sections, along with the Range gate and fencing.

The rifle range and Bay 2 suffered the most damage, both being completely filled by 5 feet of mud. The rest of the bays, including the structures and trailers survived surprisingly well with only minor erosion. However, most of the berms were lowered by the heavy rain and are at unsafe heights.

Work to repair the road and the range will commence on Friday, Sept 19. The range is closed until the repairs are completed and it is deemed safe for use.

It is estimated that the repair efforts will take approximately 2 weeks to complete. Please check the club web site and our Facebook page for any updates.

Volunteers are needed starting Monday, September 22 to assist with the fine tuning of the bays and general organization. If you are willing to help, please email me at president@palmspringsgunclub.org to coordinate.

Thank you,
Daryl Silverstein
President, PSGC
